Final Fight Returning to Consoles

Capcom's classic beat-em-up makes an invigorated return to the console arena. First screens and details.

It was 15 years ago that the Final Fight series first pummelled its way into side-scrolling beat-em-up gamers' hearts, and Capcom has decided that now is a good time for its pugilistic series to make a return.

Final Fight: Streetwise sees you assume the role of Kyle Travers, brother to Cody, the star of the original Final Fight game. The game is set in the underbelly of a metropolis known as Metro City, where rival gangs, vigilante justice and rising abuse of a new drug are the least of Kyle's problems.

And while the first games in the series were the epitome of simplicity, Final Fight: Streetwise is somewhat deeper, thanks to a ranking system that sees the game alter the experience based on your respect in the underworld community. The game offers the punching and beating so prevalent in its predecessor, but you'll also have access to all manner of lethal weapons as you progress further into the story.

Final Fight: Streetwise will be out for PlayStation 2 and Xbox this winter.
