Brothers In Arms Sent to Next-Gen Front
The popular WWII shooter series is marked for next-gen debut later this year. PC version coming too. First details.
The transition to the next generation is bringing many changes to video games but creators' fascination with World War II doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Next up for the time period is Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, coming later this year for PC and next-gen consoles.
The game is set during Operation Market-Garden and sees you play as members of the 101st Airborne Division. Your goal is simple: survive one of the bloodiest airborne operations of the Great War.
The setting may be familiar, but developer Gearbox insists that it'll use the comparatively overwhelming power of the next generation to push gameplay.
"With Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Gearbox is investing everything to take next-generation gaming to an entirely new level," said Gearbox's Randy Pitchford.
"For Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, the Unreal Engine 3 powers real next-generation graphics and the most intense, action-oriented recreation of true history ever offered as interactive entertainment."
Despite the lofty promises, there's not an overly long wait ahead of us. Gearbox and Ubisoft plan to have the game out by end of the year for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
