Get Started Early on Fable 2

Microsoft says Xbox Live Arcade game coming ahead of the full game's release.

Award winning game maker Peter Molyneux has a long history of ambitious games and it's looking no different for Fable 2. The sequel to the best-selling Xbox RPG is well into development, and later this year Xbox 360 owners will be able to get an early look at what's in store, thanks to a Fable 2 minigame planned for release on Xbox Live Marketplace.

As Molyneux explained at this week's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the idea is to release the pub-based minigames found in Fable 2 to gamers through Microsoft's online store before the game arrives, letting players fatten their wallets before even starting the game proper.

During his time on stage at GDC, Molyneux also revealed that his new game will include dynamic co-operative online play, allowing players to share their adventures with a friend.

The one thing not confirmed this week was a release date for Fable 2, though MIcrosoft has confirmed that the Xbox Live Arcade game will be out this year, suggesting the long-awaited RPG might not be much further off.
