So here it is, time for friends to disown me and people I've never met to angrily shout down my throat that I'm wrong. I don't like Lumines II. I never managed to get on board with the first one, and the second one has grabbed me even less. I admit it - it's out in the open. I'm Luminesist.

But let's be fair here - this is Lumines II, sequel to the much-loved puzzler that came out oh-so long ago and courted much love critically and from the buying public. A well crafted and hypnotic experience, the first game is still incredibly popular with people across the globe - the sequel was mildly anticipated, we should say. So what's new then?

"We have new music and licensed music tracks with videos by popular artists to accompany play.."

Well, there's new music to get drawn into and there are licensed music tracks with videos by popular artists to accompany play. Now, much as the new original tracks are up to scratch, I personally don't want to listen to Gwen Stefani when I'm playing the game, and the sight of the malnourished bint gyrating about in the background only serves to lose me many a game. A poor and ill-thought out addition, it has to be said.

Other than musical and skin additions there are a few nice things thrown in - challenge mode is good for shorter plays, an ad-hoc duel mode to make it all the more humiliating when you realise you can't get a score above 12,000, as well as a music track composer, meaning you can make your own hypnotic and mesmerising tunes to wile away the hours. Or you can make some nonsensical gibberish like I did.
